How to contribute photos

Your images will help make this a community gallery.

The Friends of Diamond Lake image gallery displays images directly from our group photo pool on the free photo sharing site Flickr. It is easy and fun to contribute photos.

Images of related to Diamond Lake are welcome:
Plants, animals, landscapes, neighborhood, historical, events, playtime...

Maybe you have a photo of your home, or some other site in the neighborhood from years gone by that you would like to share. Did you happen to grab a shot of the Orioles or Red Fox or Whitetail Deer wandering around the lake?

We're hoping this becomes a great repository of images that the entire Diamond Lake community can share.

HERE'S HOW:

1. Open a FREE Flickr account, if you haven't already.
Go to Flickr in a new window

2. Sign in and upload images to your new flickr account. You can do this using the online "upload" tool on Flickr. Click "upload photos & video" in the upper right corner of the Flickr welcome page.

[ Note, If you're feeling just a tiny bit advanced, you can email images directly to your flickr account. You will have to get your own unique email address (assigned by flickr) from the Flickr site. ...OR... there are nice, downloadable "drag & drop" tools available for both Windows and Mac users at http://www.flickr.com/tools/ ]

3. Give your uploaded images a title, and, if you want, a description. You do this by typing directly into the title & description fields near your images on the Flickr site. When you scroll over them, they turn yellow, click & type in the yellow area. (Be sure to give yourself a photo credit, if you'd like.)

4. Join the Friends of Diamond Lake group pool. Use the "Search" tool at the upper right corner to find the group (it is called "Diamond Lake - Minneapolis").

5. Go to your main Flickr page by clicking on "You" from the TOP menu. Sign in if you're not already signed in.

6. Click on the image you want to put in the FDL group pool. You will see a larger version of your image.

7. Click on the "SEND TO GROUP" link, just above the photo toward the left. Choose the Friends of Diamond Lake group from the dropdown menu & you're done!

[[ Alternatively, you can use the "Organize" tool from the menu at the top of the Flickr site pages .]]

Once you have done this once, you will find it quite easy to do (but watch out--it's fun & addictive!)

Finally, once you've poked around the Flickr site a bit, you might find it easier to use the drag & drop image organizer, accessible via the "Organize" link at the top of the page. Or, give it a try right off the bat.

Find those old photos.
Take some new ones.
Have fun!.
